FLAME BIBLE INSTITUTE
The Flame Bible Institute is dedicated to building profound and transformative relationships with people and making disciples of Jesus Christ. This institute helps individuals understand their identity in Christ, their character in Christ, their purpose in Christ, and their impact on the world.
The Flame Bible Institute was established in 2013 in New York City through the collaboration of Dr. Michael Gittens and Pastor Val Gittens. We are grateful to God for what He is going to accomplish through us as we fulfill the great commission given in Matthew 28:19.
The Flame Bible Institute offers correspondence and online courses comprising six modules, listed below.
Correspondence courses may not be suitable for learners who require frequent interaction with instructors and peers. These courses are best suited for self-starters who work well independently. Like in-person courses, online courses allow students to engage with classmates and instructors.

Online Courses
Available in four-week and six-week instructor-led classes via our Zoom platform. Online course assignments have a scheduled completion date. The online course schedules for 2025 are listed below.
Certificates of Completion are offered upon satisfactory completion of each course module. Coursework will be graded on our Moodle platform.
A Diploma in Transformational Discipleship will be offered upon satisfactory completion of all six modules.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Intro to Transformational Discipleship is just one of the few courses available through the Flame Bible Institute. The following is a simple example of this course, which forms the foundational base of the transformational discipleship curriculum. This course in the discipleship process aims to introduce Christians, regardless of their spiritual maturity, to be informed (Ignite), conformed (Light), and transformed (Fire) in their relationship with Christ through a 8 -week, online small-group, holistic, lifelong journey of instruction.
For those who are registering for the Correspondence Course, you can submit your coursework at your own pace with limited instruction or interaction.
Submittal of coursework and all course materials will be through our Moodle educational platform. Registration includes all course materials, with the exception of required course books.
Intro to Transformational Discipleship
Objectives: By the end of this 4-week session, participants and fellow learners will be able to do the following through Socratic dialogue, class instruction, exegetical exercises, and oral presentations.
Clearly articulate the definition of a disciple, the DNA of a disciple, the measurement of spiritual maturity, and the importance of making disciples.
- Apply basic exegetical principles to the study of scripture and how biblical study can relate to everyday life.
Evaluate our spiritual, relational, and emotional health.
- Provide a strategy to use our natural and spiritual gifts to walk in God’s divine purpose in the life of the disciple.
- Commit to a lifelong process of discipleship and to the making of disciples.

Join us Online for a 4-8 week program where you will learn and understand how to live out Jesus's call and experience a transformation similar to that of His twelve disciples. Jesus invited twelve unlikely people to spend three years watching and learning from him how to live in the Kingdom. What a transformation! We invite you to spend 4-8 weeks with us, learning and understanding how to live out Jesus's call and experiencing that same transformation. The Online instructor-led courses listed below can also be taken as a correspondence course.
September 23rd @ 7:30 pm - Transformational Leadership Pt 1 - Biblical Leadership: Leading Like Jesus
We are called by our Lord to be disciples, to be like our Master and Lord. We are commanded in Matthew 28:19 to make disciples so that they may be like Him. This will take leadership. To make disciples, we must not only be followers but leaders. This course will focus on how Jesus led and the characteristics that we should model. We will learn concepts in biblical leadership, mentoring, and spiritual parenting.
November 18th @ 7:30 pm - Transformational Leadership Pt 2 - Leadership Models
This course will build on Part 1: Biblical Leadership. The focus of this course will be on leadership models, including transactional leadership and transformational leadership. These concepts are not only beneficial in the church but also in the marketplace and in any area where we are called to lead.
January 2026 @ 7:30 pm - Transformational Leadership Pt 3 - Leadership in Motion: Practical Leadership
This course will examine the role of personality types and emotional intelligence in leadership. We will explore areas and develop strategies to become better leaders and make lasting change in the lives we lead.
September 18th @7:30 pm - Intro to Transformational Discipleship Pt 1
If you want to grow spiritually, emotionally, and in your relationship, this class is for you. We examine how we think, how we become, and how we live like Jesus Christ. We will discern how we form our worldview and make decisions. We will examine what it means to be an authentic disciple of Jesus Christ and the cross we are to bear. Let's embark on this journey of transformation together.

November 20th @ 7:30 pm- Intro to Transformational Discipleship Pt 2
This course is a continuation of Pt 1 with a focus on how we are to live and be a mark of difference in this world. We are to be the "Salt and Light" of this world. We will examine how we can live this out through our relationship with Jesus Christ. We as disciples should want or lives to be lived with purpose. If you want to grow spiritually, emotionally, and in your relationship, this class is for you. Let's embark on this journey of transformation together.
